Photo A Day ~ 17 Apr

When we first arrived at the base here in Japan, it was early in the morning on a Sunday. Most people were sleeping but we were still on U.S. time. We didn't want to wake anyone on our contact list so my husband walked down the street to the little convenience store and purchased some snacks, drinks, milk, etc... and these noodle dishes. They are microwave meals... and we had NO idea how to cook them because the packaging was all in Japanese! Thankfully there was a maintenance worker in the building of our temporary apartment that helped us with the instructions... and these are some of our favorite snacks now!

OK - I am totally into the Thai kitchen bowls they sell here - I know you're in Japa so they probably don't have those specifically, but they look the same from the packaging. Cute idea for the picture today - I enjoy learning from your blog!

Sue, I think that's why my hubby bought them that first day! We loved the Thai kitchen bowls!!

I can imagine how scared you were! My BFF's brother lived in Fukaoka (excuse my spelling) for a couple of years and they went to visit him. After awhile she forgot about the time diff and started calling my VERY early in the morning LoL- Anyway, she brought back some very interesting "snacks", but found some that she LOVED and misses here in the US.

That is something that you take for granted - being able to read the microwave cooking instructions - lol. Glad you found someone to help you out at the time! Great idea for the theme photo.
